About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover Picture: Inferior and lateral views of the human brain, illustrating centers of activation for subjects viewing faces, face parts such as eyes, objects such as flowers, hands, complex non-objects such as hyperbolic gratings, and letter-strings such as the word 'cat'. The results suggest a mosaic of functionally discrete regions in the ventral object recognition system and in lateral occipitotemporal cortex. Activation was assessed by recording event-related potentials from the cortical surface of epileptic patients with chronically implanted electrodes. See Puce el al., pp. 445-458.
