Cover Figure

Cover Picture: Cux-2 regulates cell cycle exit of intermediate neuronal precursors in the developing cortex. Image illustrates the expansion of neuronal precursors in the subventricular zone (SVZ) as a result of the abnormal cell cycle re-entering in the absence of Cux-2. A 2 h pulse of BrdU was used to identify the ventricular (VZ) and SVZ anatomical regions in E15.5 Cux-2-/-mice. Cortical sections were stained with Ki67 (green), to mark all neural dividing cells, and BrdU (red) to identify cells in the S-phase. SVZ cells are identified as those set apart from the pool of BrdU-positive cells aligned along the ventricular zone. See Cubelos et al. 2008. Cux-2 controls the proliferation of neuronal intermediate precursors of the cortical subventricular zone. Cereb Cortex 18(8): 1758-1770.
