About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover Picture: Diversity of neocortical cell types present within subcortical band heterotopias (SBHs) after RNAi knockdown of DCX. Neocortical neurons co-transfected in utero with eGFP (green) and DCX RNAi plasmids, fail to migrate into neocortex and instead form a SBH. Parvalbumin-expressing inhibitory interneurons (red) and glial fibrillary acidic protein-expressing astrocytes (blue) are also present in SBHs. Interestingly, no double or triple-labeled cells are observed (merged image) suggesting interactions between transfected and untransfected neurons and glia during formation of SBHs. See Ramos et al., pp. 1323–1331.
