The color overlay represents the smoothed reaction time (RT) data from 104 functional neuroimaging studies reporting activation peaks within different parts of this region. Red indicates slower RTs in experimental than control conditions; blue indicates faster RTs. The results reveal a clear functional distinction between lateral and medial subregions.
