The cover shows filmstrips of two dance movements, a classical ballet move and a capoeira move. Ballet and capoeira moves were matched in kinematic features with the help of a choreographer and performed by professional dancers. Three still images of each move are shown to illustrate the visual similarity between the dance moves (e.g. first column from top left shows three frames of ballet, then three frames of capoeira). Professional capoeiristas, professional ballet dancers viewed and non-expert control subjects viewed both types of dance move in an fMRI scanner. The central render shows brain activations when the dancers viewed their own movement style in comparison to viewing the other movement style. Seeing actions for which the observer has acquired the motor representation produces activations of premotor and parietal areas in the left hemisphere. See Calvo-Merino et al., pp. 1243–1249.
