Cover Picture: Pulse-labeling with bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) was used to trace the movement of cells from the proliferative zones through the intermediate zone. The image on the left shows cells that incorporated BrdU (brown somata) immediately after the 1 h pulse finished. The right image shows the distribution of cells 6 h after the BrdU pulse. This approach was used to examine the effects of transforming growth factor and/or ethanol on cell migration. See Siegenthaler and Miller, pp. 791-802.
