A high-throughput diOlistic cell loading method was used to propel DiI-coated gold particles into fixed mouse brain tissue. Delivery of loaded particles to the neuropil resulted in retrograde transport of DiI throughout the membrane of multiple neurons, labeling dendritic processes and somata. The diOlistic method provides a high-throughput strategy for full-scale quantitative analysis of 3-dimensional neuronal morphology. See Wu et al., pp. 543-554.
