About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover Picture: Neocortical basket cells consist of three distinct subclasses: nest basket cells (leftmost, layer II), large basket cells (middle, layer III) and small basket cells (rightmost, layer IV). Three-dimensional computer reconstructions of each subclass (soma and dendrites in red; axons in yellow-gold) are overlaid onto an infrared differential interference contrast image of rat somatosensory cortex (pia, up; L5 bottom; captured area is roughly three columns wide). See Wang et al., pp. 395-410.
